Aulosira, Tolypothrix, and Nostok mitrogen fixers. Aulosira fertillissima fixes are 50 kg of nitrogen/hectare/year. Anabaena azollea has shown to fix 333-670 kg/hec/ year in Java rice fields. These algae fix mitrogen so efficiently that in South Asia mitrogen fertilizers are unnecessary because algae bound on the surface water of rice fields and rice can be grown on the same land year after year without the addition of fertilizers.
