(a) Stretch reflex – When a skeletal muscle is stretched ,the muscle contracts to oppose the stretch. This happens reflexively and is called stretch reflex. It is monosynaptic reflex .It plays a very important i role in the regulation of muscle tone and posture.
The stretch reflex arc is a monosynaptic reflex arc. The receptor is present in the muscle- the muscle spindle.
